Hands-free fishing logbook

Google Maps tells you where. Reel Tracker tells you why.

Clip a button to your PFD. One click logs the catch with GPS, weather, tide and solunar data. Your hands never leave the rod, and your phone never leaves the dry bag.

Android today. Works with the Flic 2 smart button.

The problem every angler knows

Existing apps expect you to stop fishing to log your fishing.

Wet hands

You just landed a red. Your hands are covered in slime, the phone is in a dry bag, and you are already casting again.

Lost detail

By the truck you have forgotten the lure, the tide stage, which way the pressure was moving, and that the water was stained.

Invisible patterns

Without structured data you never see that gold spoon + incoming tide + rising pressure is what actually wins.

One click. That's it.

A waterproof button does the logging. Three presses cover a whole day on the water.

Fish on!

Single click

Logs the catch with GPS, weather, pressure, moon, solunar period and tide stage. The phone buzzes once in the bag.

Voice note

Double click

Say it like you would to a buddy: "Nice red on the gold spoon, twenty six, right on that grass line." AI pulls out the species, lure, length and conditions.

Mark structure

Long press

Drops a pin on the oyster bar, grass line or drop-off, so the spot is saved without counting as a catch.

The zero-touch promise Fish all day and never open the app. Your log is still complete: every catch has coordinates, conditions and a timestamp to the second.
What you get

The intelligence you are already generating, captured automatically.

On the water

A trip screen built for wet hands and bright sun.

Big readouts, one accent colour, 64-pixel buttons. If the Flic is in the truck, the on-screen buttons do the same job: Fish On, Voice, Structure.

Voice to data

Talk. The timeline fills itself in.

A double click starts a voice note. Gemini reads it in context, links it to the catch you just logged, and turns "switching to the gold spoon" into a gear change on the timeline.

"Second trout, nineteen inches on the Spook, blowing up on it right at the surface."

Conditions, automatically

Every catch carries the weather, the tide and the moon.

Barometric pressure and its trend, air temperature, wind and gusts, cloud cover, moon illumination, the solunar period and the NOAA tide stage are stamped on every press. You never type any of it.

  • Pressure and temperature trends charted across the trip
  • NOAA tide predictions for the nearest station
  • An AI weather summary you can actually read at the ramp

After the trip

Trip insights that read like a guide debriefing you.

End the trip and the AI writes the story of the day, names the top pattern, and lists what it noticed, with a confidence it is willing to stand behind.

Four of your five reds came in the 90 minutes after you switched to the gold spoon.

Your patterns

Across trips, the app learns what works for you.

Not generic tips. Your catch rate on an incoming tide against your overall rate, your redfish lure, the water you always get skunked in. Every card shows the evidence behind it.

You catch 1.4× more on an incoming tide. 13 catches in 11.5 hours across 4 trips.

Dashboard pattern cards: you catch 1.4 times more on an incoming tide, and gold spoon is your redfish lure
Before the trip

A 14-day fishing forecast for your home water.

Solunar, weather, tide and wind are scored into one number per day, with the best two-hour window and the trips in your log that looked most like it.

  • Daily score and best window on the home screen
  • Live tide, pressure, wind and moon tiles
  • "Days like this in your log" so you can plan from your own history

Every catch, mapped

Your route, your catches and your structure, on satellite.

Filter the map by species, tap a pin for the full context of that moment, and see the track you paddled or ran. Night mode keeps your eyes for the pre-dawn launch.

The lazy tackle box

Your inventory builds itself from what you say.

Mention a lure in a voice note and it appears in your tackle with use counts and catches credited to it. No catalogue, no data entry. The app learns that "the gold one" is the Johnson spoon.

Built for the backcountry

Works where the signal doesn't.

Offline first

Catches, route points and voice notes are kept on the phone and sent when you are back in range. Moon and solunar maths run on the device. Nothing is lost if the AI call fails; the audio is always kept.

All-day battery

GPS is read when you press the button, not polled all day. The route tracker uses coarse spacing and the weather is cached from the start of the trip.

Glove-proof

Nothing tappable is under 48 pixels, the main action during a trip is 64 or more, and every colour clears contrast in full sun and at night.

Questions

Before you clip one on

Do I need the button?

No. Every button action has an on-screen twin on the trip screen. The button is what makes the zero-touch promise real: it lets you log a fish while it is still on the line.

Which button does it use?

The Flic 2, a waterproof Bluetooth button with a clip. It pairs once from inside the app and reconnects by itself on every trip.

What happens to my voice notes?

They are transcribed and interpreted by Google's Gemini model inside Reel Tracker's own cloud project. The raw audio is kept with the note so you can always hear what you said.

Which platforms?

Android first. The app is built with React Native, so iOS follows once the button integration is ported.

Who sees my spots?

Only you. Your trips live under your own account and are never shared or pooled. Sharing patterns without coordinates is on the roadmap, and it will be opt-in.
